H-Quad Events

At Stony Brook University, as the Public Relations Officer for Langmuir Hall Council and a Resident Assistant in Benedict College, I was tasked with creating engaging promotional material that would connect with the members of the quad community and promote engagement with the numerous events that went on throughout the year.

H-Quad is one of the undergraduate residential communities at Stony Brook University. It is home to over 1,200 residents and professional staff, and focuses on 'Leadership and Service.'

Each hall council meeting had a theme of dress for added engagement. Presented is "Nerdy Tuesday," where individuals were asked to dress up in "nerd and geek" attire.

Redefinition

An annual event where participants, typically 1st-year students were asked to engage in thoughtful conversation and activities centered around bullying, stereotypes, and insecurities. The main event of the program was where participants would write down slurs, or rude comments, that have negatively affected them in the past on a large canvas, and would later be asked to hurl paint filled water balloons at the hung-up canvas, thus "redefining" the hateful terms and labels into art.

The event typically was capped at 40 participants, but received 60+ RSVP entries.

Langsgiving

An annual thanksgiving dinner event for the residents of Langmuir Residence Hall where attendees would dine together and recollect on the events of the fall semester.

The event typically saw 100+ attendees.
